Mamma Time

I’ve written about this before in my blog but I’ve been too tired to mention it again. That’s because my oldest daughter has been sleeping in our bed for… seven years. I know, I know, I thought it would never happen to me. The solution is always the most obvious and, obviously, getting some sleep was the best solution all of this time. Fighting her would take all night, all of our time, and all of our strength. Having her in the bed wasn’t a quick fix, either – we’d wake each other up all the time.

In the past I tried goal charts and plain old begging and bribing. I have heard that when a kid is ready to do anything, and that includes diapers, reading, getting off to school easily – there is no time except their time… it just clicks.

And so, I have to agree with that. Three weeks ago, my un-sleeper started sleeping in her bed and that is that. She will even get up to go to the bathroom and then put herself to sleep again after. It’s a huge milestone and all of us are the better for it. We praise her and her self esteem has flourished. She had so many fears of so many things – being alone when I went to the basement to do laundry, for example.

So far so good – knock on wood. I’ll keep you posted!!
